I already posted a question about my boyfriend's Oscars...was wondering why I didn't receive many replies (stepped out of bounds!)...Thank You Alien Anna, for answering in my time of need.

My name is Kimberle, I first stopped here in my search for advice on the health of our two Oscars. I am still really dumb in the area of aquariums, but have already learned so much from my search for knowledge.

Purchased the Mardel, 5-in-1 test kit today. Interesting....I hope I wil have the opportunity to discuss some of the results, and how to alter them, with many of you.

I'm more of a rabbit enthusiast. However, my boyfriend has a thing for Oscars. He'll be glad I came along...I think the Oscars will appreciate it ALOT MORE!

I inherited two goldfish from a neighbor...never thought I'd have feeling for fish...BUT, I DO! Their names are Melda & Marcoids. They are beautiful! (at least to me).

Back to the two Oscars, which by the way have never received names. Do the rest of you name your fish?? Or is that something only us "newbies" do? Anyway, I think they may have 'fin rot' but received some advice at the pet store, that because I have treated with so many meds for so long...test the water. Adjust what needs to be adjusted...watch to see if fins keep deteriorating and then plan treatment. 'Guess I'll go from there!

Well, to a lot of people I might be considered a newbie but after 27 years I still name my fish. So you aren't alone there.

The thing is, I keep mostly only cichlids and they have a personality and I give them a name based upon that. My flowerhorn I have has killed everything he comes into contact with. So I named him Hatred. He's killed my piranha, Midas that was twice his size and even tries to attack my dog when she walks by the tank. I can put my hand in there but for some reason if anyone else does he attacks them. I have no clue how he knows the difference between people. But that's why cichlids rule!

I did just set up a community tank last month but with trops I can't seem to name them as they all act the same to me.

with so many fish I have resorted to naming only my more noticible fish. I have bert my Jack Dempsey,Reed and Andre my 2 dominate labidos, Terry and Berry my 2 common pelcos, and Jorge my Aulonucara Maisoni

i'm a newbie too i've had fish for a grande total of one month, and i've named every one of them!

my dad was an avid aquariast at one point, but now he finds it silly to spend all my money on fish. i like them, and i haven't got anything better to buy, so why not buy some bettas?

oscars, i wanted one. my dad said they make good 'puppy-fish' but i think my betta boys are just as puppy-esque as i can handle

what kind of goldfish are they? my brother had a bubble-head pair once, named them Bubbles and Goldie. ^^

I don't know what type of goldfish they are...Marcoids has big, bulgy eyes and fancy white and gold fins. Melda is just gold w/fancy fins and...something that looks like a gold cap on her head. Any ideas?

Hey! does anyone know why my blue envelope on the message board has a black dot on it, like it's sealed? It was the same way when I posted on the fish emergencies board.

Heh! I think it just means that you started the post, or you posted in it. The post I had started had a black dot on it too!
