Ugh where to begin- Yesterday I had one of my male FT guppies die- this was in my 10 gallon tank and about 1 week prior a piece of his tale was missing- then a few days later he started "shimmying" then a day before he died his back tail got "clamped" and yesterday he sucumbed...I had just bought a used 20 gallon (so i can convert my 10 to a hospital/quarintine tank) and after his death I moved all the fishys, gravel, fake plants, and filter MEDIA only to the 20 gallon.

The light is much better in there and I saw that on my other male guppy he has 2 big scaleless patches on both of his front side fins. Then I noticed today that him and my molly are scratching against everything. I am still in the process of cycling this tank and i know its now restarted so my questions are as follows-
Do you know what this is?? No white spots-
Is salt safe for my neon tetras (as a medicine aid for guppy's/mollies)

One big problems is I went to the LFS store today and they gave me Organi Cure and said to use it and it was safe- dumb me put it right in and then noticed that it was for MARINE FISH-- ugh...So about a half hour after putting it in I re-inserted the carbon and am now about to change half of the water....is it safe after this to put quick cure for FRESHWATER fish in after this??

My next isssue is in my 100 gallon- this as of yesterday is now completely cycled- the day before my Nitrites were still reading about 1.0ppm but now its gone completely and my Ammonia has been gone for at least a week- One of my dwarf gourmais is acting "ill"

Tank size: 100 (for gournami) 20 for guppy's/mollies/tetras
pH: 8.2 in both
ammonia: 0 in 100 (20 isnt really anything since all new water today 2 days ago it was around 1)
nitrite: 0 in 100 (20 now irrelevant 2 days ago around .5)
nitrate:
kH:
gH:
tank temp: 78 in both now but before i changed the 10 gal to 20 I realized the heater was broke in 10 and the water temp was about 70-72

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior):
Guppy- Scales missing - and where they are missing is white- they are fairly large patches on both sides of him around his front side fins/ Molly and guppy scratching on everything- no other visiable symptoms

Gnornami (100 gal)- "hiding" either on ground or upper back corner of tank- not eating or moving much- at least a day

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 100 gal about a week ago 25% 20 gallon all of it yesterday about to do half since i think it might be over medicated

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: Charcoal in both-

In 100- Aquarium salt (about 15 tablespoons), aquaruim fertilizer for plants (safe for fish) but only half dose,

In 20- While everyone was in 10 gal i had 2 tablespoons of salt (is it safe for tetras?) and in the 10 gallon I did put one of those Lifeguard tablets in for about 20 min (about half disolved) then took it out put in the charcoal and my husband then put a "fungus tablet" by jungle in there (it was only in there for about a hour and half before i found out and put the charcoal filter back in- Since yesterday after changing everyone into the 20 gallon (with all new water) ive done double dose prime (for chlorine) and just added the Organi Cure (which contains formaldayde and Copper) It was in there for about an hour before I put the charcoal filter back in-

Tank inhabitants:100 Gal- 3 male gournamis, 5 mickey platies, 3 bala sharks, 2 mollys, 3 bloodfin tetras, 2 med/arge angelfish- 1 rainbow shark and 1 albino rainbow shark

20 gallon- 5 neon tetras, 4 molly fry, 1 sm/med molly, 4 FT guppys

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): 100 gallon - plants- always rinsing and adding more plants but i do take out ones that look anywhere near bad

Exposure to chemicals ??

So, Im going to change half the water and I ask HOw should i treat these itchy fish that are scratching their scales off?? SHould I treat the old tank prior to putting anyone else in there (is it in the gravel thats left) then

What should I do about my Gournami- I want to put him in my hospital tank but I am afraid that there is something still in there from yesterday....
THanks to all that have followed this and I am sorry about the length I just wanted to make sure I had everything covered in order to get the most accurate advice....I am ever so grateful to all and any assistance I recieve...Thanks again!!
V/R a newbie that needs to stay away from the meds!!! (but i just dont want them to suffer and want to help ASAP!!)

Sorry getting confused as the post that long.
The fish in the smaller tank was it cycled or not.
The white patches do they look fluffy,.
Any excess slime on the fish.
Check the gills over to see if there pale with excess mucas on them or red and inflamed.

Im confused too- SO many different issues and its hard to explain each one and give enough details so I can get educated advice.
Il try my best to recap in a short and sweet manner.
The 20 gallon is NOT cycled. Everytime it has gotten close an issue arouse and I needed to medicate a fish in there.
I have only had two deaths though and one was from a bala that was sick when I got him- I healed him 4 times but I guess never completely and the other was this guppy I lost in the begining of this "saga"
In this tank i had a male guppy who had his tail nipped by a betta (who is now gone back to my dad's house) and then a week later he started "shimmying" having difficulty swimming and frantically scratching- About 36 hours after the shimming began he died...Right after is when I moved all inhabitants of the 10 gal to the 20...the light is better so I thats when I saw the other male guppy missing large amount of scales on each side and him and the only non-fry mollie in there were scratching on anything they could.
No there scaleless patches are not fuzzy-just white because of missing scales
No excess slime on anyone that I can tell and the gills look fine (however my dad does have a bala that has the gill problem you describe (llack of color) what does that indicate usually?)
I'm assuming that the organi cure didn't hurt them because everyone is still doing okay today (maybe even better) and I did add the appropritae dose (for tetras since neons are in there) of quick cure (for parisites) last night after water change.

In my 100 gallon it IS cycled but just got there about 2 days ago. and that is where my gournami and giant danio is. the gournami is still not eating and hanging out in the corner, him and the neon gourmani are both pooing white stringy stuff.

The giant danio is acting normal as far as i can tell but his white spot does look kinda fuzzy- And he might be eating but spitting it back out...he's had this spot for a few weeks. I'm not sure if i should take him out and put him in the 10 gallon (empty now) and treat him or just wait longer
I do have aquarium salt in both tanks hoping it would help.
And I hope this post clears it up enough to advise what these issues could be and how to "cure" Thanks again.

Pale gills with excess mucas on them can be gill flukes.
How big is the white spot on the fish, does it have a tinging of red around the edges or a red centre of the spot.
Gill and skin flukes signs are.
Red inflamed gills, or pale with excess mucas.
The fish will look opaque, with excess slime.
Swimming in a jerky movement.
Spitting food out.
Erratic swimming.
Losing weight.
Sores on the body of the fish.
Flicking and rubbing against objects.
Laboured breathing.
