"pets at home" open until 8pm, local fish shops often open late... even supermarkets are open 24/7 .......................... are we missing something here ?

send someone to the shop for you, order on the internet or something.

with a fish-in cycle you are seriously endangering your fish if you go without daily water changes.

i have a pretty pressured job sometimes, i know it can be hard to find the time, but these are living creatures that you're putting at risk. tell your boss you've a docs appointment and nip out and pick some up or something.

I really have to agree here!
ignoring the argument for and against. at this stage in your cycle, the last thing your filter needs is chlorine, and the first thing your fish need is a water change.
