morning....

seeing as i`m not working tonight because of a slight illness i`m wide awake coz i should be on nights  anyway...

i was sitting here thinking of doing a water change, at 3am !! anyone else add to my list of things that only a fiskeeper would do or think??

1, water change at 3am

2,i was watching a programme on solar flares and the world going to pot, first thing i thought of was, what about my fish tanks??

3,when the wife watches these makeover house programmes i always look at the house and wonder where and what size tank i would have in that house.

4, like 3, when we visit friends and relatives i usually look about for a place for a fish tank for them.

5, go to the lfs or local pet stores, just for a look to see whats in.....then end up buying something.

6, put up a stupid post on an internet forum at stupid oclock coz ur wide awake and bored.

cheers

Forget breakfast and the first thing you think of is "Oh rats I forgot to feed my fish!!" :)

Power goes out and your more worried about the fish suffering lack of filteration/ heating over the fact that your freezer is quietly defrosting a fortnights worth of food.

Amen.

And when the power finally does come back on your more concerned with ensuring all the filters kick back in again.

When you get back from a holiday and left a family member to look after the fish the first think you do when you get home is check the fish to make sure they were taken care of properly :p
Thats a major one with me.

Yeah I do number 3.

My fiance's parents have just bought a new bungalow and theres a perfect space for a 6'x2'x2' tank. Her step dad wants a new tank but only wants a little 100l tank :( I even considered offereing to do all the water changes for him if he got a 6x2x2 so we could get some awesome cichlids

1 - happened once... it was at 4 am for me though. I saw my swordtails skimming the top of the water and thought there was a nitrite spike (can't measure nitrite yet and couldn't back then either), only to find out after doing a large water change that they do this when they are hungry. o_O
2 - I ask myself, but in a different way: Who do I give the tank to, if I'd know I will die? Or what if I'd die unexpectedly? What will become of my fish?
Other things: When I see pictures of fish tanks, I can't help but wonder what fish would look good and like that tank.

I feed my fish first, maybe arrange a few plants that my kittyfish has unrooted and THEN I eat breakfast.

I'd worry about that too now that I have a filter. Luckily I was doing 100% changes when there was a 1 whole day power outage.

This would especially be happening after letting dad in charge. The countless fish I've lost while I was at grandma's and dad was home with my fish...

Spend a fortune on a new bigger tank and find out it's a lot more trouble to work on.
Spent my whole salary on a bigger tank + stuff for the fish, found out that a 30% water change in a larger tank is bigger than a 100% water change in my old tank. X_X At least it's weekly (or every 5 days), so my mom stops blaming me for their water bill. I'd say they should just get a dishwashing machine instead of using me as a dishwasher, because there's where all the water bill sum is coming from.

3,

Watching Location Location on C4 and passing judgment on how good the house is according to the size of the tank I could fit in the living room/lounge.
