One Of My Guppies Is Dying

Well your water stats are good so that’s a positive thing, at least the cycle has finished now.

I still believe the guppies are just too weak for such a new tank; it’s fairly common to experience this. The danio could well have just been damaged by fishless cycling. The process of cycling with fish can seriously damage a fish’s respiratory system, this is permanent damage that you can’t reverse, so fish which have been through a fish in cycle are often weak, sometimes they’ll make it through a few weeks of cycling then die towards the end.

How are the rest of the fish looking now?

Can you inspect for the following common symptoms
Lethargy/Hiding/resting on the bottom of the tank
Not eating
Small white spots (like grains of sand)
Red or white ulcers or sores
Fish flicking or rubbing against objects
White stringy poo
Red or swollen anus
White cotton wool like growth on the body
Eye’s swollen or cloudy
Fins ripped or torn
Fins look like they’ve been eaten away with either white or red edges

Thanks Merovingian and Miss Wiggle for the fast replies, I have checked the other fish, they look absolutely fine, no signs of any physical problems, all are swimming and playing and eating well.I will monitor them closely. One of the danios ( the biggest ) has sometimes been a tiny bit territorial with the others, chasing them at full speed. It was a worry that the missing fin, might have been actually bitten off.Maybe its like you said about the cycle taking its toll. Thanks again,I will post back if there are further developments.

I have only read some of the posts, but i think that next imte you buy guppies or any other fish, look at the tank they are in and the water. Look to see if the tank is clean or has been cleaned recently. Then i'm told never to buy a fish from a tank if one of the other fish looks poorly.
Your fish may have something the other fish had.
Good, this is the spirit Merovingian! Read all the "New to the Hobby" threads you can and participate and ask questions. By the time Christmas comes you will be truly up to speed. The threads from people are more fun and you can learn a lot. Still, will be important to read the pinned articles and background type things: I suggest the pinned link "Beginner Resource Center" and then under that will be a "Cycling Resource Center" where you can look for articles by Miss Wiggle and AlienAnna as good first starter topics. Miss Wiggle also has a number of good links in her signature when she posts.

Mikky77: agree with above that, given your good water stats, it must be down to the individual fish having problems as MW has speculated. Keep a close eye.
