OMG I HAVE KILLED OVER 150 MOLLIES

I Had some toliet paper that my aunt gave me that she found on sale well I didnt know that she had a bar of scented soap in the bag to. well my cat had knocked the bag over and it just so happen that my grandson had left the lid open last nite after I feed them well any way the soap had landed in my tank Killing close to 15 adult mollies and I really aint for sure how many babies. It wiped out my whole tank. I am going to get rid of the rest of my fish I cant take watching them die like that for no reason due to me being stupid. I knew they were at least 130 babies mabey more I just had got a new tank for them.

Don't leave the hobie that you enjoy so much over this. I'm so very sorry for what happened but you can find a way to prevent things like this since you know they are possible. This must be so traumatic... I'm so sorry.........

I'm so sorry to learn about this tragic accident.

But that's just what it was: an accident. It could have happened to anyone. I'll bet there's hardly a person on this forum that hasn't, at least occasionally forgotten to close the tank lid. I know I regularly leave them open on my tanks.

So, please have a good cry in memory of your lost babies; they deserve that much. Then clean out that tank and get it up and going again. There are generations of fish, yet unborn, who need your good care and love.

I think the fact that you feel bad should make you feel good ... its shows your high level of compassion.

Other people run around doing horrible things and not feeling any guilt.

I hope you get back into your fish keeping and enjoy it and don't feel bad .. feel good you are a nice person.

Thanks everyone for your kind words I am so mad at my self I usually never go to bed without checking to make sure everything is ok. I was just so tired last nite and I have studying alot where I went back to school. I just didnt think and now all my babies are dead and it is all my fault. I have cried all day over this I even went to the lfs and tried to give them all of my fish and she wouldnt take them, she told me I wasnt in good frame of mind right now and to wait a day or 2 and she would take them then. I sure might take them to her before I do something stupid and kill them.

please dont quit the hobby because of one incedent. I knwo some one hoo has a 6 foot by 6 foot marine tank wich cost him 10s of thousands of dollars. One morning he woke up and found all the 80 fish dead. but he never gave up and started again and now hes has 100 and something happy fish.......so dont quit

KEEP your babies ... cause they could do a lot worse. At least you care about them. Build them up again and you will be happy when they start to get bigger and then breed themselves.
Don't quit .. please
