My adopted cat (we've had her for about 9 years) has stopped going out and only used to go out when she needed the toilet. Lately she has either got lazy or has converted to a house cat (I might also have contributed to this by the introduction of a litter tray since finding several packages on the living room carpet!).

It is bad for cats not to go outside? She's not afraid to go out but would just prefer to stay inside and sleep! We think she must be about 12 or 13 years old but seems very healthy and happy!

As cats get older they hate going out its normal, even for the toilet.

It is fine for a cat to stay inside all the time.

I have cats that were born inside and have never been outside except into a small enclosure (not counting trips to the vet, of course).

We do have screen windows so we can open windows to let them get the sun they need to manufacture vitamin D.

i've had a cat that is almost 18 years old. she used to go out more than she came in but now that shes old, she stays in as much as possible. all she does is sleep and eat.
