WOOOOOWWWWW!!
WOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPIIIIEEEEEeee!!!
Okay, now all I need to know is which picture, the 3rd one?, and how you do that whole entering thing, can someone help me there??
Mike,
The Blood Parrot (hope you read all posts) is a blast to have in a community tank really. They can't eat any other fish because sadly they can't close their mouths
This actually is a bad thing, but for tanks with smaller "victims" it's sort of good because this "cichlid" is no threat at all. They were developed in Tailand, I believe, and are 2 different cichlids, sort of a hybrid I guess.
They eat flake food, just Tropical like most. And follow my cory's around eating the brine shrimp they kick up.
.
Anyhow, he sort of just bumps into other fish with his head....
And my Blood Parrot, don't know about others, is a really big wussey. He tries to act tough but in the end my 3spot Blue Gourami ALWAYS gets the better of him.
I would have to push you to do one thing if you were to buy one.....please don't buy a dyed Blood Parrot. It isn't cool to have a neon green BP swimming around slowly dying because it's body is fighting the dye all it's life. I am lucky with mine because the dye is pretty close to being gone. To tell you the truth, I almost didn't get Polly because I hated the ugly purple color he was. I LOVE his natural color, it's so bright and really stands out in a communtiy tank. To tell you the truth when the dye starts to fade it's REALLY ugly, especially some green or blue color. Best thing to do would be to NOT buy a dyed one which means trying to get your LFS to order one that wasn't dyed or maybe they have some BPs that someone brought back....although they were almost 100% of time dyed, but maybe they are old enough to where the dye will be gone??!!
Don't know, that is really a personal call I guess.
I've personally seen these fish get to be about 7 inches long and 5 inches high. Along with those measurements you have to consider girth. These suckers are FATTIES.
Almost as fat as tall!! But I count him as 8 inches. They are suppose to be around 6" I guess but I add 2 on for his fat little BUTT
. So even though Polly is only 4 in. long right now and MAYBE 2 inches high there is a possibility he will get bigger over time, I've seen it a lot. So I'd say a 30 gallon, no smaller!
