I have been putting a couple of slices of cucumber into the tank with a clip that basically attaches it to the glass. And each time I am finding that the middle has been totally removed in a circular kind of motion, so there is only two plecs in there and some mollies and angels, so is my golden nugget eating them? Or is the pitbull hiding food away somewhere because he is only a squirt?

(Sorry I just want to try to work out if my GN is eating so if there is any other you think is eating it please say? :) )

If you see him eating them then yes, he's eating!

Have you seen him on them? A slice of cucumber won't last long - I put in half a courgette at once, cut in half lengthways with a spoon shoved through to weigh it down. It usually lasts about 2 days and all my fish have a go at it, even the shrimp. I would not assume he's getting any unless you definitely see him on it.

This is the thing I go to work, two full slices (I put in 4 a day as I replace them twice if that makes sense) and I come home voila!! Yes I did try courgette 2 halves but nobody ate it, how did yours last two days I left mine in a day and it fell to bits and made a massive mess!!!

Erm.. I chop it, I shove a spoon in it, I plop it in the tank... :look: no special treatment.

I find courgette makes less mess than cucumber. Courgette is better to feed than cucumber too as cucumber is largely water. Other good ones to try are apple and sweet potato. Whenever I have sweet potatoes in I save a slice for the fishies.

I would expect all your fish to have a go. So like I said, unless you actually *see* him on it, I would not assume he's getting any. The only one of my fish I've not seen on the courgette yet is the BN, so I can't assume he's actually eating it.

I find cucumber less messy than courgette ( opposite to you)
My fish don't seem keen on courgette either.
I put quarter of a cucumber in and it last about one hour tops!

There isn't much nutrition in cucumber, courgette is better, or broccoli stalk.
If you cut a thickish chunk it won't disintegrate so quickly, & only leave it in 24 hours then replace with a new bit
