Ok what lights do I need then

Hi

I have my 8 x 2 x 2 tank with freshwater oddballs, Im trying to sort out the lighting for it but I want to have plants in aswell, not sure which just know I want plants aswell for now.

I have been told about T5's CFS's and Metal Halides. I have a chance of getting some metal halide light fixtures and bulbs really cheap as my dads works are getting rid of theirs. Soooooo Should I go for the MH's?? If so what bulbs will I need, ie what number of Kelvins? 10000K??

Any info appreciated as I need to let them know tomorrow.

6500K daylight tubes for plants.

You can always add blue tubes alongside the metal halides to give it an overal bluer clean look.

You need 2 bulbs for an 8 foot tank as one bulb wouldnt cover 8 feet.

2 250 watt halides would be my choice for your tank
