;) - hey guys. ive decided my new tank (75g) is going to be a marine tank. I just got the tank today and this is what i have.

1 Flural 4 Plus Filter
1 Heater.

i also have a smaller Flural filter too, which can be used if nessasary.

I also have the hood etc, but no lighting tube at the moment, I really need to know step by step what to get.

ie. 1) get marine salt, etc etc. this is the best way to understand. then under the item, describe what to do with it.

Im new to the Marine World, but not new to tropical tanks. So every little bit of advise would be great, remember thou, money is tight, so i need the cheapest option of everything.

I even thought of buying rock in a step by step method, as and when i get sum money.

Many Thanks. I look forward to your replies.

Cheers

In short nothings cheap when it comes to marines (unless your an ebay hunter with a good eye). If you cut corners then it could all go wrong. ive had my marine tank for nearly 9 months now but when i started i got the cheapest skimmer i could find (and what a heap of s**t that was) so that was £20 down the drain so then i had to buy a more exspensive one for £150 and its the dogs danglies. :D just remember once you have it you have it for life or something like that.

hehe, i thought u didnt need 1 if you had a sump? or am i wrong ;)

u need oen especially in a tank that size. Yur gonna want to get an in-sump one. Go to saltwaterfish.com and then go to message boards. look up Zonut under the search button. Thats his username. E-mail him about a cheap good skimmer. This thing is amazing and cheap.

If you use a sump with mineral mud then a skimmer is not needed. (my tank is 100 gallons and skimmerless). However, you and I did talk at length on MS last night and the price of an overflow system and setting up the sump will far outway a good skimmer to use in your main tank. As you mentioned, money is tight but with marines its vital their environment is kept as near perfect as possible. Excellant filtration is vital and the only way around this is Liverock (perhaps with reefbones in support). There are other ways to filter a tank such as a trikle filter but again i dont think your tank is designed for this so you have limied options.
The liverock needed for a tank this size wont give you much change from £400 :-(
