This gets my vote!

My old 10" jag had my 8" Red devil in his mouth one morning! He had bit him from the top down ie had his dorsal fin in his mouth! And was just swimming around happily! RD was ok but was rehomed sharpish! I would recommend against the jag!

Funny, I was advised against adding a JD with my GT, even though she was female, on MFK. Though I think they can work together.

I think a Convict would be a good choice. Nice fish, who are very fiesty for their size.

I think the information is rather conflicting for hamfist to disgest haha :p Not quite the outcome he'd expected i'm sure

Information on cichlids is very often conflicting  A lot of people find they have different experiences. Best way to find out is to try it, I've learned that.

Lots of useful ideas and thoughts. Thanks everyone.

verminator .... yes I was hoping everyone would say the same thing. (no chance ! )

THe good thing is that I don't have to make any decisions in a hurry as things are certainly not "critical" in the tank at the moment. The Midas currently thinks the FH's ideas of grandeur are a joke. And as he is about 10 x the body mass of the FH, that seems fair enough !
I'll have a good time to ponder the options.

I dont have any personal experience with JD'd (yet :hey: ) but I was talking to someone yesterday who has JD's and his are very passive, they will stand up for themselves if challanged.

Just want to add my personal experience with silver dollars  I rescued 2 some time back and added them to the tank with the texas (who was 4" at the time) and the dollars were attacked immediately! (the dollars were moved to another tank straight away and recovered) Others I have had I found very spooky and easily stressed with cichlids. Now whether it was because they were large dollars (about 5-6") I am not sure, and whether dollars need to be bought small and grow up with cichlids I dont know. Just wanted to let you know in case you go and get large dollars and end up with problems like i did. :good:

THanks for that Star. The thought of adding something like SD's just bores me, to be honest. It would be "wasted" biomass in the tank for me.
A JD is fairly high up on my list at the moment.

I'll do anything to get the JD to number one in your list haha :hyper:

Bah I'm not keen on JD's so I'll sway you the other way!
