I have heared mixed views on keeping clowns without anemones i have heard that they are fine without them and that anomones are no good for begginers but someone else told me that only the maroon clowns live well without one but i just wanted the smaller common clowns.

at the moment i have 1 Ambon damsel (Pomacentrus amboinensis) , 2 turbo snails and 2 burowing snails.
salt 1.024
ammo 0
nitrite 0
nitrates 20
I put the damsel in 3 days ago (9 sep) will it be aggresive towards the clowns and is there enything i can do befor hand to prevent it?

I am not familiar with this Damsel, but in general Damsels do not really hit it off with clowns.
The two fish may fight for territory.

Clownfish do not need an anemone. They are quite happy finding a home in a rocky cave, or may even house in a soft leather coral. Anemone's are very difficult to keep in even mature tanks.

I hope this is of some use?

Agreed, clowns don't need anemones.

As for the damsel, I'm not sure as that particular species is not well documented... Might work, might not. Either way, now is the time to try as it's still getting used to its environment.

I keep a Domino with a Maroon Clown in a 20 gallon... I imagine most other pomacentrids should coexist.

I am relocating my tank so this means that i am gona have to re aquascape everything again i will get them the day after this is done so the damsel has to get used to a different layout also should i put them both in together or one at a time.

Tank bred clowns from TMC have no idea what an anemone is anyway, but they soon figure it out when they do get one, but they don't need it.

I have various damsels in with a pair of clowns, the damsels and the clowns have no problems but any other clowns have been beaten to death

Now is the best time to do it if you have to rescape the tank

Steve :)

My LFS have 3 or 4 domino damsels in a reef tank, together with a bi-colour angel, diamond goby, lunar wrasse, clownfish and a few others that escape me at the moment. I was surprised actually by the dominos, as they just tended to stay in one spot and weren't very active, not when compared to blue damsels.

Possibly. They will host pretty much anything they take a fancy too.
