What is it? There's this oily kinda film on the surface of my -lanted betta tank, it looks greasy. Any ideas?

A lot of protein given in the Betta's diet since last water change, or has anyone been putting unwashed hands in the tank recently?

This seems to happen whenever I put catfish pellets in my tank, so maybe if you have put betta pellets or something like that in recently, it could be that? It clears overnight for me, because of the filter making the water move, but if it is bothering you that much, then take a piece of kitchen roll and glide it along the surface until the oil/grease is gone :)

Any wood in there marie? If you drape a sheet of newspaper on the water surface and drag it to the other side it will remove it.

I agree with mintt but I use kitchen roll cos I'm always worried about the ink leaking in :)

To remove an oily surface from a tank, try spreading a piece of paper towel across the surface and then remove it. In most cases, the paper towel will remove mos or all of the oily film.
