I now have an empty 10 gallon tank just sitting there. I haven't even cycled it yet (More like "again"). What should I do with it? Marine or Fresh? What kind of substrate and planting?

There are a lot of different things you could do with the tank depending on what fish you can source and what interests you.

Here's a link written a few years ago on species suitable for a 10 gallon: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=116208

You could also keep a trio of shelldwellers (African Cichlids) or I'm sure you could set up some sort of invertebrate tank. You could also plant it well and add a couple of dwarf puffers, there may even be a few other oddballs suitable.

You could go with tetras, small barbs ie. tiger barbs, or live-bearers. Those are all suitable for a 10 gal.

Definitely freshwater or brakish not marine - you'd fine it very hard to keep a marine tank that small stable, n you wouldnt be able to keep much in it cuz the tanks can handle much less bioload as far as I know.

Personally I'd go for a betta or 2, but that's just me. The above suggestions are good :)

you could hold like 80 shrimp in that tank ^_^ but That might get boring so I would go for 2 male bettas in a seperated tank
