I came home from a fun day in Houston to a sight that almost made my heart stop. El Shaddai, my beautiful copper red HM, had gotten his tail stuck in his filter intake and was stuck there!!! He can barely swim with those massive fins as it is, and I guess when I switched his tank from gravel to sand the other day it made a larger gap under the filter than was there previously and he swam under it. It's one of those small internal filters that comes with 2.5 gallon minibow aquariums, and the intake is on the bottom. There's no telling how long he had been under there, and his fins are literally just destroyed... his dorsal fin is barely hanging on by a thread, and I'm sure he'll lose it, too
hey, i was just wondering 2 things..i have a minibow 5 and with the filter that came with it says that u shouldnt use it in sand bottom aquariums cuz it will mess up the motor just warning u incase its the same kind which im sure it is.....and also does ur filter have a switch where u can make it stronger or weaker? mine does so maybe u should check that out too and im so sorry about el shaddai hope he pulls through cya
