I don't want to get too excited, but i just clocked 2 of my skunks in the t position!!! :hyper: It was only a split second, think i startled them when i jumped up to watch them!!

Now i assume the 4 eggs i found are the trilineatus has they're at it at the moment...

Trouble is my guppies are taking great interest in the cories at the moment, has i only found 3 eggs the other day i assume the guppies are eating them just has fast has they're laying them

I think the guppies will eat up any eggs they lay, you might have to think of another tank for either the corys or guppies, or removing any eggs asap and hatching them in a tub, either way there is some work involved. di

Congratulations, Harlequin,

I hope you get eggs from the skunks...

Slightly offtopic:

Just how bad are guppies? I have three endlers in a tank with a group of C.pygmeus and have not seen any eggs/fry for more than a year... is it possible that the eggs are all being eaten?

Thanks :)

Well my guppies & platies are terrors for nabbing eggs  It is quite possible the endlers could eat pygmy eggs, about the right size for endlers to snack on!

Wooohooo. I'm happy for you hope they grow up. Sounds exciting. Happy new year. What a good way to start it off.

nice keep us infourmed, skunks are very hard to breed, that would be like a wonderfull start to the new year!! good luck

Thanks everyone :)

Well no sign of eggs yet,but knowing my guppies/platys they may well have eaten them

But they are very active, cleaning plants/glass,flirting with each other, normally they just sift through the sand quite happily...

yay! congrats harlequins!!! I have 5 skunks myself and I am just in love with the little guys!!!

I am trying to figure out my stocking to arrange a 10 gallon all to themselves to see if I can encourage some egg laying :good::hey:

keep us posted! I would also love to hear how you care for the eggs and little ones once they hatch...I have raised my share of guppy fry....am wondering about the differences with cories

Update -

I just spotted skunk cory holding an egg on her fin,i managed to take a quick pic, just after i took it,she scooted off so unsure where she put it

I've had some eggs hatch which has taken longer, usually around 5 days the trilineatus take, which the first 2 did,now 7 days later the last 4 hatched, well i took a pic of 2 of the fry and they appear a lot lighter in colour, just wondering now whether they are skunk fry... :hyper:
Obviously will have to wait till they're older(if they get that far)
Here's a fuzzy pic i took, you can just see the egg on the edge of her fin...

Here's trilineatus fry just hatched, these are quite dark in colour

And these are the new fry hatched, smaller and appear paler with a brownish tinge...
