American deer are a far more treacherous lot.You never see them crossing the road where the signs are posted for them.(How many other animals rate their own crosswalks,I ask you???And raccoons really need them!)Instead they lurk in areas that should be off limits to them and they wait for an opportunity to lunge out unexpectedly.And when they make these appearances,they never bear any resemblance at all to the signs, which depict them gracefully leaping upward at an angle that would easily take them up and over the average semi with no trouble at all.No....they blunder into the road as if they were emerging from a dimly lit tavern after having a bit too much to drink.And who knows...perhaps they have

those are some great pictures! i saw a whole heard of them when i was coming home from the creek on monday, luckily they wernt in the road. i have never had any problems with the deer around here, but the elk are pretty mean. take for instance the other day i was walking my dog in the forest, minding my own, when two males came running out in front of me. and of course my dogs herding instinct kicked in and she tried to nip at their heels (shes a heeler). and to make a long story short we were very lucky to get away with only a couple scratches.
