I got back from summer camp today to find my lil black ct on the floor dead I saw that he wasnt in his lil 1g tank so I look on the floor and found MYSELF STEPPING ON HIM! I of course screamed and ran for my mom... my mom told me to shut up and pic him up in my net and flush him down the toilet He was the best lil bubblenest builder I have ever seen... he could finish a big nest in about one hour! and I mean BIG! I will always remember him.... He was all dried up! and my socks kinda stink now cuz of Cruella (the dead betta)

yes keep lid on 24/7 unless standing there to put him back in... mine like to jump and try to eat me

He did have a lid... But I saw him on the floor dead on my socks and the lid was moved a lil bit! Iunno how he moved it.... it was a piece of cardboard with holes in it.... I'm sure none of the holes were big enough for him to jump outta

You need to put a weight on top of the lid if you're going with cardboard. Books work, as do cups, or other heavier objects. A jumping fish will easily move aside a little piece of cardboard. Mine gets a lid with airholes with a heavy wooden box to hold it down at night and when I'm gone more than 40 minutes.

i have a metal lid so mines not gona move that. if u have a petsmart or a pets + near you they have a 2 1/2 gal tank thats awsome. i have my beta in that along w/ a african dwarf frog. the tank cost bout $9 where i live.




btw - dont lte this stop u from fish keeping. ive done the same thing.

I think we've all experienced bettas jumping and inadvertently dying. Just learn from the experience, and you're ready for the next time.

Since your tank went on the fritz you should look for a new tank....
Theres a AWSOME Betta line Tank on sale at Petsmart. There Betta Cubicals that have LIDS!! on them. lol. There really cool because you can connected the cubicals together to make a Betta row its like a O-O-O-O-O-O-O

You can put them on a shelve and it looks really spiffy ^^
