Hey everyone...........after many posts and advice from you guys, my mom and I have decided on a 60 gallon tank. It includes:

60 gallon tank..........same length and width, but 4" taller
Black Cabinet/Stand
Hood and Lights

all for $330.

I'll be adding two Pengiun Bio-Wheel 350 filters. They are made for 75 gallons, but I figured 2 on a 60 would help keep it extra clean.

I'll also add 1 good heater, and put the one thats on my 29 gallon tank on the 60 as well.

I think this is a good deal. The 55 I originally had picked out was 160 and came with a not so good heater and filter, plus no lights.

Now, my stocking for this 60 gallon will look like this:

2 Guppies
8-10 Dalmation Mollys
3-4 Platys
4 Angelfish
8-12 Cory Cats........I have 8 right now and want to add to make each of my 2 groups 6 each.
3-4 Clown or Angelicus Loaches - I'm not sure on these because Clowns are only $3, and Angelicus are $22 at my Pet Stores. I've had people tell me that it would be okay to add the clowns in this tank, and others have said not, so I'm not sure.

With the extra 5 gallons of water and 4" height, will this be an okay stock list still?

Get the angelicus (Botia Kubotai) over the clowns. They're much better for a 60 gal. Full grown Kubotai are at most 1/2 the size of a full grown clown.

The mix of fish would be okay IMO. Angels and guppies are the only possible problem I could see.

It's potentially overstocked though you may have less problems since you've got 2x filtering. Just watch the nitrates and water change often.

The only thing w/ the loaches, is that the botia kubotai are $22 each, and if I get 4 of them, that's close to 100 bucks just on fish. It'll take a long time for the clowns to get that big, and by then, I can probably upgrade tanks.

I thought about the angels and guppies, and if the angels mess with them and kill them, I'll just replace the guppies with swordtails or some other fish.

congratulations on the the tank, bu I can't agree with the above, by the time you realisee they are too big for the tank they will be stunted already. get fish for the tank you have, not the tank you may get :) You'll enjoy it more that way

thanks...........i've just been told by so many people that I CAN get the clowns in this tank...........then a lot have also told me NOT to..........so I'm just wanting to totally make sure

I think you are best leaving the clowns as they can reach up to 12". I know you plan on getting a bigger tank eventually but you don't know what may happen in the meantime which could prevent you from getting one.
As For my fish said, stock your tank with fish that won't outgrow it, you'll enjoy it a lot more. If you do end up getting a bigger tank then you can get the Clown Loaches then. ;)

If I were to leave out the clowns and the angelicus, could I get more angelfish or corys?

Clwonfish don't get to 12" unless found in the wild, largest you'll see if your home aquarium is 8" and that'll take like 4-5 years to get to that size as clown loaches grow quite slowly IME... I think clown loaches would be fine in that tank. Somebody will more than likly argue and call me stupid for saying such a thing, but I still stand by what I said.

Also, in accordance to the guppies, if your hearts set on anglefish, then don't get guppies as the guppies WILL attack the anglefish's fins. I'd say go with the 12 Cory cats, get rid of the 4 platys and get 1 more Angle fish. My stocking for your tank:

5 Anglefish
3-4 Clown Loaches
8-10 Dalmation Mollys

I actually really like that idea

12 Corys
5 Angels
8-10 Dalmation Mollys
4 Clowns

Only thing is, I have 2 guppies and 2 platys that will just have to stay in there until they die because I have nowhere else to put them.

Also, would the 5 Angels fight if 2 pairs paired up? 1 would not have a mate

I totally disagree PRW, people have had Clown Loaches that grow to 12". Clown loaches can grow to about 15" in the wild. Have a look at this website.
Clown loaches
Many members will tell you that the loaches need a bigger tank, mainly because of the expected size but also because they are active fish that need plenty of swimming room.

The guppys may nip the angels when the angels are smaller, but if you provide some taller plants for the angels to hide away if they need to they should be ok. As the angels grow the table will turn, and the guppys are bound to get a little payback.

Angel aggression with pairing is totally unpredictable. I've had multiple pairs in 55 & 65 gallon tanks that got along fine, then on occasion you will get a pair that are total terrors. I would try to get the angels from an independant lfs, talk to them & tell them you may be returning some adult angels if you have aggression issues. Most shops will do this, as they know adult angels sell well.

..just give the gups n platys to a shop/ friend, otherwise itll just be hassle. on the loaches... i dont really know tbh, but by what people say n the fact that can reach even 8" a piece, i personally wouldnt keep them. u could get a larger group of smaller fish that would fit alot happier, n there are lots too choose from. :)

wow just wanted to add that site said they live 40 years thats a comitment!!!!!!

Hey guys........after much referrals and talking to you guys, I've decided to not get the clown loaches and get the angelicus loaches instead. I know they're $22 a piece, but they are the fish I really want(they're so beautiful!) and it's the ones my tank can really hold. Thanks for everyone's input!

Here is my final stocking list:

2 guppies
2 platys
8-10 Dalmation mollys
4 angelfish
8 corys
4 Angelicus loaches
