So i've found a super steal on Ebay (shocker). Not worried about the seller, all his ratings are solid. He sells all Odyssea equipment, and i'm thinking his prices are so low because the company must be retired or something and the lower the price the more it sells: basic marketing. Plus odyssea stuff is cheap anyway.
The light is a 30in 96 watt t5 with four bulbs and four LEDs. It consists of 3 switches and three plugs, two for two bulbs and one for the LEDs. The housing is Aluminum with a corrosive resistant coating. Also the light is cooled by two fans. Sadly only one reflector, but hey, its polished.
I've read a few stories of the HQI lights "Mine caught fire" but haven't heard any negative comments about the t5 lights. I don't have alot of money, and for 85 bucks its a hard deal to pass up.
ON another note, especially if the lighting idea is bad or I pass up the deal, i'm considering going for some LED lighting instead. I might create my own stand/canopy and mount two 1 square foot LED panels, or possibly find a way to suspend 3 panels over the tank. Good/bad idea? (LED lighting in general, not the suspending idea)
