My new tank is doing great, thank you for the great advice and forum.

I have 2 molly's 5 tetras and 3 Cory cat fish.

My question: 2 of my cory's hang together. The 3rd one is mostly to himself. They are all active and it looks as normal as the other 2 but they don't seem to school together at all.

Should I be getting more cory's of the same type or do they sometimes just go there own way? I like the amount of fish we have, everyone seems to have their space. But I feel bad for the little guy

thanks

When you have a 6+ group of social fish of the same species and then see one being anti-social regularly, then it is time to be concerned. In small numbers (like your 3), the same fish can act very differently, some even become spiteful and aggressive.

What are the tank dimensions? A 3-footer would be my preference, because Mollies grow to ~12cm; are active; can be fiesty with each other and tankmates.

Add another 3+ same species Corydoras, providing your water stats are good and you have not added any new fish to that tank in the last week or so i.e. the filter bacteria are not already playing catchup for the amount of fish in there.

Yeah I'd always heard that schooling fish like Corys needed to be kept in groups of 6.

Nobody, I ADORE your signature and so feel your pain :p

Thank you much, I've got a 20 gallon tank and haven't added anyone in a couple of weeks. Thanks much, I'm off to my LFS!

Social fish like to be in schools of 6 or more, this way they can always see 5 comrades & feel like they are in a bigger shoal so behave in a nice natural way.

So up the corys to 6.
