one of my beautiful panda corys(about 1.5 cm) was swimming round my tank was i was doing a water change so i was syphoning.. i was doing the gravel untill he swam so fast he swam into the syphon he didnt get sucked up but he then got the gravel on top of him i got him out straight away. he has no marks he is fine apart from cant swim properly.. he trys swimming but kind of flops and sometimes ends up upside down!! any product that helps this? is there any hope? has this happened to any of you? poor little panda!

Thanks

well first of all i would add some anti bacterial stuff to make sure if he has got any cuts etc they dont get infected, erm with the swimming what do you mean, does he just sit in a corner and not move or try to swim but cant, could do with some more info, could be just shock

well he doesnt sit in the corner well he stops obv but not in the corner lol he trys to be very active but when swimming in mid water he often looses his balance but hes getting better and have added anit bacterial!

I was lowering water in all my tanks in order to move them. One of my C. virginae/Sangama ended up in the Community tank with the peppers. It is the planted 100 usg with the glass divider in the center. Poor lonely guy. He keeps to himself and doesn't join the peppers at all. I have seen him with the Botia a few times doing the loach dance briefly. But it is a little too rough. Mostly he just sits under the Mama Amazon Sword staring at me. It is a major event to catch anything healthy in that tank. Sigh...

He had to have stayed in the python hose while I was moving the tanks and then got spit into the Community tank when I started refilling.

But he is healthy w/no residual damage. I have my fingers crossed that the little panda just got dizzy and is a little shocked but will keep up his recovery. :hyper:

hopefully he didn't hit his head. i had one of my leopard corys swim headfirst into the side of my tank and basically gave himself a concussion. he died a few hours later.
i hope things are better for you and your panda.

He seems alot better now and is literally fine so i decided to put him back with his friends (3 other pandas) now the unfortunate side i havent seem him :( i can only see three but because they all the look the same i could be seeing the same one 3 times o dear! there only tiny!!!! im just praying now that he is still alive! but i think he probably is just hiding in a cave or sumthing but on the other hand if he is dead the o dear but i think i saw him but theres 2 kind smudgey ones and 2 clear dotted ones so i reckon i might have seen him but i have only even seen all four together once when i put them in but after an hour i could only see some at a time maybe i should have bought a bigger specie!

If he was doing well alone, and the water wasn't too different between the tanks or you acclimated him, he is probably just suffering Cory Post Trumatic Shock Disorder. haha It sometimes takes Cories awhile to recover from a stressful event. Shooting through a wormhole qualifies. He is no doubt resting in his most secure hidy hole and just sneaking out for quick bites. Give him some time.

I don't know if you are keeping your Panda Corys with Discas. But I sure hope you are keeping them in different tanks since their optimal water temperature is so far apart. :/ Discus would be around 80F and Panda would be around 70F. I keep mine in room temperature without heater and they are breeding like a rabbit. Sterbai are fine with Discus temperature range but Pandas prefer much cooler temperature since they are originally came from base of river in higher ground. So if you think about the well being of this pretty little fish, please move them to the cooler tank if you can. They would thrive much better in there.
