Im cycling my tank so ive got it at 86 F (30 C) right now, and the plants are dying after being in it for just 2 days, this sucks, theyre tropical plants too, one seems okay though.

I dont know of the species, can fishless cycling be done at lower than 30C?

fishless cycling can be done at any temperature. How many plants are in the tank? If loads then just cycle with fish. The plants will take up the ammonia.

Uhh can anyone confirm that you need 86F to cycle? Where did you hear that?

You can almost cycle at any temperture above freezing.

I have a suspicion that your "Tropical Plants" are Non Aquatic plants.

Make sure you have the correct amount of lightning for plants.

most plants will not do well above 26 degrees C, the higher the temperature the faster the cycle so ive heard, ive heard it can take up to 6 months to cycle a cold saltwater tank, also i dont agree about cycling with fish if you have lots of plants, ive cycled with fish, and since i heard about fishless cycling id never do it again.

My plants do nicely at 28ºC (temp is hotter for my Rams)

I didn't cycle with fish previous to planted but I have since with no deaths or problems.

(In fact when I first started on planted I put the whole fishload straight in a fresh (2 months after the last lot died from a CO2 dump) with no ill effects.
