a couple examples here... my silver dollars appear to eat some of my pothos roots, and several Cichlids nibble in them, probably looking for other food sources... I'm ok with the eating, in fact their trimming gives interesting detail... just wondering if they are lacking something in their diet... I include vegetable based foods in their regular diet...

also many of my Hillstream's spend the bulk of their time in the roots... they don't have the biting abilities of the dollars, but assume the roots both grow, and draw in bio films, as they draw in the water...

thoughts of plant roots as a food source... either actually consumed, or as a collection point of bio films???

It all depends on what's already inside the fish - from the teeth in the throat to the gut structure.
