ok so today i put Candy and Bacon together. the nest is big and all but she is not surrendering- well i thought she was but she didnt seem to follow though with it yet. i dont want to use my other 2 female because they just flare excessively at him even though they are getting eggy. i do want to try again tomorrow. for right now and he night, Candy is in a separate tank taking a break. i have to admit that Bacon was a gentleman at times. though he did chase he sometimes, he did just show off at her and swim around her the go fix the nest.

What happens happens I suppose... I would try once more but if they don't want to then it's not going to happen :)

ugh this is frustrating  i guess deep down i was expecting this but my excitement was hiding that and then i put her in and i was like :yahoo: --> :snap: --> :/ --> :| --> --> :dunno: --> :zz

i will never give up though! ;)

It sounds like your male was ready to go but the female was not. Give both of them a break of at least 2 days before trying any more breeding. Did you use the chimney method where you isolate a female in plain view of the male in a chimney, the kind you would find on a kerosene lamp? When the female indicates she is ready by her response you can simply lift the chimney. It makes bringing the fish together much less dramatic and improves your chances.

i am using a breeder trap like the one below, but i could use a chimney. is it ok if it comes from a lamp that has been burned in?

her in the trap (ignore her flare- she did it once and stopped)

my other females flare and have the bars and are getting eggy, so should i try them out??

H, your bettas are wonderful. the term "eggy" sounds odd to me LOL! goodluck.

what are you using to condition and how often are you feeding it? Please don't take this wrongly but they just look like all my bettas, not eggy ones

those are older pic, since then they have gotten bigger. i have been feeing them a significant amount of frozen blood worms every day. they are not fat.
