I'm not having a go at anyone and this is more pointing out something so it can be rectified rather than starting an argument, but...

I've been reading this forum for a month now trying to get lots of info on owning Bettas, and i've asked quite a few questions aswell. Most of which have been answered to some extent but some have just been ignored.

Now i understand that you can't know everything but i have noticed that alot of people only respond to topics from people that have been on here a long time and that are all friends.

I don't think this is very fair as it's us newbies that need all the advice we can get and i know it's not a lack of knowledge preventing the questions being answered as some of you are experts.

If i was an experienced owner i would be trying to help other people as much as i could, not just replying on the topics i found interesting.

Rant over, thank you for listening

P.S Thanks Synirr for finally answering my question earlier :)

I don't agree in the slightest.

I've not long been on TFF but I've never had a post unanswered, yes perhaps not every one of my 100's to my full understanding but all answered.

I'm not saying your posts in particular but there are so many posts I look at and it's just the same old thing time and time again, often the same people asking the same questions again and again as if expecting a new answer or something that they want to hear.

I reckon 50%+ of posts could be answered by either looking at pinned topics or searching on google. 30%+ of the other posts could be answered by looking on TFF's archives or using the search facility - and yes, there are some questions that haven't been raised or advice that is more specific to tanks, environments and their enhabitants.

I'm not ranting either but I would be careful when pointing out things like that, nobody I've come accross are vindictive or 'clicky' and all are very helpful.

Saying all that it is a free country but nobody here has a right to demand all the answers and not everyone here knows all the answers nor can they view every post.

Keep searching for answers and asking questions to any issues you have remaining.

I'm by no means demanding answers to my questions, and i do search for the answers on here first but some things are just too specific and havn't been asked before and others just bring up far too much stuff which would take hours to sift through.

I'm not saying anyones being vindictive or clicky, just that people who know each other are far more likely to read each others posts rather than questions that don't interest them from people they don't know, which is fair enough, i'm just trying to say don't forget that stuff that seems obvious to the experienced people , isn't to newbies and although our questions seem simple we still need help.

Again, i'm not wanting to cause offense :)

er sarahw20000 i have just looked at all of your topics and all of them have replies except 1 so what seems to be the problem, you seem to be getting replies!so why start a topic saying that people dont reply to newbi's because they do

The one that made me post this topic was the whitespot thing i put here yesterday, i really needed help and nobody would reply until i reposted, by the time some nice person had it was too late and i'd had to deal with it, just hope i've done the right thing and he survives!

I'm not saying people don't reply to newbies because i know myself i've had questions answered, i'm just saying sometimes they might be overlooked because they're boring or repetitive subjects.

'sigh' I wish i'd never started this topic, i'm not very good at getting across what i mean and i think i've come over too agressive or offensive after reading my original post.

If someone wants to delete this topic that might be better coz i'm not going to be around after tonight until monday anyway.

:/

well i had a topic i posted 4 days ago and after adding on to it and bumping it back up, i got an answer today. something you gotta understand here is that we arnt experts, most of us here are learning our sleves and purhaps maybe we just dont know. i try to get on everyday and find the post here where no body has answered yet and try to answer them to teh best of my ability but i may not know the answer. if u look over below my avatar, u'll see iv been here a long time, i have yet to post a topic that did not draw atleast some response.

Perhaps it was the case that the people who could have answered simply weren't online to answer your question at the time. I wasn't here hardly at all yesterday and when I was I didn't see your question, sorry. I did, however, get more boxes unpacked from after our move, fed the goats and refreshed their water, cleaned the kitchen and did tank maintenance on four of my six tanks not to mention looked after a toddler the whole time and ran into town.

Perhaps the people who were here didn't feel that they could answer your question accurately so they just held off.

I can't say whether or not there are people here who are cliquie because I haven't looked out for such things but I do know there are people who aren't. Anyway, I'm sorry that you feel the way you do and I hope you will stick it out.

if you find a post you have written is dropping fast down the board and no one is answering it and you feel its important then bump it to the top again. as already stated not everyone coming here will know the answer as indicated by the number of people that have viewed your post but i do know how frustrating it must seem when all the posts around you are being answered and you feel you are being ignored.
i think all of us at some point have posts that have gone unanswered and some that took a long time to be seen but its all about waiting for the right person to see it.
if you feel its an emergency then best to post in that section as well.
i get where youre coming from so dont worry about it :)

Yeah thats fair enough, someone else said to me that alot of the 'so experienced they should be vets' people don't come on here much anymore.

Anyway the things that have been bugging me have been resolved so at least i've acheived something :)

I don't agree Because I am really new here and even though I am always asking stupid questions ( :p ) I still get replies, they may not always answer my question but I think the people on here are pretty nice and really do try to answer the questions...

I agree that *sometimes* people don't reply when you really need them to, and its frustrating but I think you just have to catch certain people online, alot of the same people answered most of my questions and are usually most of my replies. Right now I'm waiting for something, but you just have to bump once in awhile because topics get easily lost on here, especially a popular board like this one. I understand how you feel and I hope people don't be too harsh on you, because I'm sure everyone has or will feel the same way some time along the line.

Would you rather 100 people who really don't know what they are talking about reply with "suggestions" and have you trying all sorts of things and spending tons of cash on meds and idea's that re not going to work...plus get you confused after you receive 50 different suggestions....

or would you rather have no one reply until someone that REALLY knows what they are talking about (in regards to your specific problem) answers you?

No one get's paid to read these forums and solve your problems. There is a website called....GOOGLE and a function called SEARCH. If no one is answering you in a timely manner..it's time to stop depending on others to do the work for you..and time to do some research.

That's how the "knowledgable" peopel you are depending on to solve your prblems...find the answers to the problems you are looking for most times. We have researched and read about the various illnesses and problems our fish can and do come down with. I knwo it's easier to just post and get a reply..but sometimes you need to research it yourself.

IMO the betta forum is one of the most helpful forums. I rarely, rarely see a thread with zero replies. I appreciate the betta folks more than I can express for taking the time to help others.

I reckon 50%+ of posts could be answered by either looking at pinned topics or searching on google. 30%+ of the other posts could be answered by looking on TFF's archives or using the search facility -
Bingo!
