Hi,

I was diving in Mauritius last week and a fish tried to attack us. I don't know much about fishes however I am really interested in learning.
It had kind of gold and black stripes, I think round shaped teeth and about 20cm approx., it looked like it tried to bite us, luckily we managed to go away. This is the information I have; my teacher said it was a "tiger fish" and possibly was trying to protect its babies. What's the fish I saw? I have found some photos on the internet and it looks as it was a gold datnoid/tiger fish however I can't see in those photos the teeth. Is it possible that what I saw was a gold datnoid? and are they dangerous to humans?

I would like some information please.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds more likely to be a 'zebra bream' to me.

I might be wrong but Datnoids are found on the other side of the world from there.

Its more of a Wahoo i guess. Wahoo used to have pointed mouth and sharp teeth. But they are not usually attack people and they seem so harmless.
