A couple months ago I took a bunch of assassin snails my LFS for a swap.  I gave them about 20 snails and it paid for nearly all of the fish I wanted at the time.  Anyhow.... I went back in there today to check their stock of amano shrimp as I am wanting to do another swap and bring in more snails.... well... the snails I brought in a few months ago were still in the same tank... at least half of the were empty shells that no one even bothered to take out of the tank.... so, it appears to me that they must have been starving and eaten the others that died.  This happens to me too... I mean I might lose one every so many months.... but that many?  Noooo.  AND... this was my local Maidenhead Aquatics and I really would have expected better.

Now... what do I do?  I am sure I don't want to take in my assassins to that location (I have about 30 I wanted to swap).  Do you think another location would be alright to take them for a swap?  Maybe I should ask the store workers if they even know how to feed them and that they don't eat algae.  I now feel really bad that my snails went there and so many died.

that is horrible!
what i would do is talk to the owner, and educate the employees about what to do.
you can inform the owner that by letting the snails die like that they are losing vast amounts of profit.

calling around to different pet store owners etc, swapping should be possible. you can also try online, usually works, but don't know much about that.

I'd suggest you tell them about the situation! At least they will know what's up, and maybe wont kill your next batch!
I'm always prefering a good talk before jumping to conclusions as it solves most of the problems.

I've only got the option of 3 LFS to deal with, two Maidenheads and Pets at Home.

I might try waiting until a free posting day and see if I can sell them on ebay for collection only.  I don't want to attempt posting them over the winter.
