Not Happy With My Cory Tank. Advice And Suggestions Please

You have a good shot at some spawning, if I am right about them being C.sterbai. Were you considering a second Cory group or another mid/top level? I have a paper here someplace that lists the Cory temp preferences. Not many like the higher end of the temp scale like the sterbai do. You might consider one of the smaller BN Plecs, also. They seem to do pretty well with Corys and don't bother them or their eggs. But as you have just redone the tank, you might want to give it some maturing time. drewery might be able to help with ideas about fish sources. I have never found one where I am, but a good Cory lovers group is considered a good source for high quality Corys.

I have to go back to review to see what you have stocked already. If you want more Corys, research on what would be good options with your present occupants and patience to wait until your choice shows up is a good way to go--that I have never mastered. Hence I have a fish room and looking how I can get more tanks in.

Lovely tank.

Jollysue, from the research i have done and id's from other members im pretty sure the 13 i have in the 100L tank are all Cory soldalis which from what i have read seem to not breed in home set-ups too well :(

If i dont go for any more corys (id love some pandas in there if compatable) i may add a small male & female plec of some sort but that wont be for a while untill the tank and corys have settled in

 Never was good at picture IDs.

They look happy though. And who knows? You may hit on just the right thing to get them going. One time I ran out of live blackworms. So I pulled some 2 year-old mysis shrimp out of the freezer and fed that to my fish. Some Corys that had never spawned for me before spawned that night! haha. It never happened again and they never showed any interest in mysis shrimp again either. But the conditions were just right that time. Unfortunately I was too busy or something to do anything with the wind fall.

They do look a lot like the C.sterbai so they are easily miss id'd :)

i shall try my best and see what happens. fingers crossed

been reading up on the Cory soldalis today and from what i gather there is no chance of them spawning even with the best water conditions, tank layout and feeding they seem impossible to breed
