not clear about fishless cycle

when you're using the pure ammonia method are you suppose to cut the doeses in half when you test positive for natrites? or when it spikes ..because i tested and it was at .25 and im not sure if im suppose to wait till it spikes to cut it in half or just cut in half now.

all of the literature that i can find on this says to half the dose when the nitrites spike. Like all the rest that is what i did and everything worked out. Good Luck
