I had a white molly that went suddenly thin then got all twirly and died....about 3 weeks later I got some more mollies, including another white one. this one dropped fry and now she is all thin too.

Treating her for internal bacteria (and I think she's improving, her belly is less hollow and she's interesting in things againn) but I think it's really strange that only my white mollies have ever been affected, all other fish are fine and my marble molly is any explanations?

I don't think i'm ever going to buy a white molly ever again...

Maybe try getting them from a different shop.

I had 2 mollys do the same on me, A few days after they died another molly had 'white spot' Not sure if its related but best to keep a close eye on your other fish. Not sure if this is related either, But one of my mollys was white, and one was white with some orange spots...

What are your water stats? You should check that out before giving up. This may be something you are doing. It may be your shop too. Some shops are much better than others with the way they care for their fish. You may be getting weak fish to begin with from that shop.

That's so weird I have a white molly that's also displaying those symtoms - becomming very thin, the hollow belly and all. She's very weak looking and tends to go verticle when swimming. I have 5 other mollies and they're all thriving. I wonder are white mollies more sensitive.

Do you use salt in your water, I don't but I've been reading that I should if I'm serious abot mollies. The problem with salt is that plants don't like it and my tank is full of well established plants. Any advice anyone?

I always get all fish from this shop, he is the best in the area and I have never seen any sick/dead fish in his tanks and wouldn't go anywhere else. I went to pets at home the other week, and saw them put fish straight from a delivery into the for sale tanks with the other fish for sale the next day with no quarantine!

I have put my white molly back with the other fish as she is much more active and has not got a hollow belly anymore.

I don't use salt water in my tanks as my tank is mainly made up of fish who prob would't appreciate it (plus plants). I don't think it is essential to use salt, and often keeping an aquarium involves compromises between ideal temp requirements of different fish etc. Maybe you could add really low levels of aquarium salt or something as a sort of compromise?

I would get your molly treated if I were you, she won't last long otherwise vertical swimming is very bad (if she goes twirly then it is probably too late). I suggest you treat her with a treatment for internal bacteria (I used interpet no 9 as I think this treatment may have saved my molly). Adding aquarium salt during treatment is also reccomended.

Yeah I tried the No.9 treatment but I was too late, I lost the poor thing last night. Tested my water and everything's fine and all my other mollies are fine, I'll be keeping a close eye on them though. Thanks for the advice anyway.

Doesn't happen to be waterworld aquatics does it?

No she wasn't an albino, her eyes had pigment, but she was almost pure white.
I have another almost identical molly who's doing really well so i don't know maybe she was jucy a little weaker and picked up a bacterial infection.
