Hi there!

I'm angel lover. I used to be on this site quite often but haven't been on in quite some time.

I was recently at the biggest aquarium store in Ottawa purchasing my lobster. I got to talking to the sales person about water changes. I've had my 55 gallon for almost 5 years and I have always done about 20% weekly. He told me that this is too much and I should be doing 10% every 2 weeks.

Everywhere I have read always says weekly. So anyway now I'm a little unsure. Any advice would be great.

hi!for water changes it should be about 20-25% every week.

You are right and 20% weekly is absolutely fine.

Don't listen to stupid employees at LFS's... they hardly know what they're talking about when they tell you 10% every 2 weeks is good... I work at petsmart and I recommened a 20-30% water change (more if they can manage it) every week!! and I tell them if they miss a change one week to do a larger change the next week... myself, I do 25% water changes on all my tanks every week... (usually on saturday )

Are you from Ottawa?? You wouldn't happened to work at the one in Barrhaven would you??? If so, I know you!!...lol
