I was wondering my red betta "Dalek" doesnt like to flare.

He is next to another betta but separated by a piece of paper so they cant see each. I remove the paper 2x a day for about 10 min. so they get some exercise and i can examine all the finage and gills. :fish:

someone post on another link that if he has crimped fins it my parasitic. hes had crimped fins since i bought him and i think it might be normal for him but im not sure his gills seem fine so what else should i look for. :dunno:

Hes been though the treatment of bettamax and is happy and active as can be he was kinda lethargic before the treatment. :D

anyway back to the flaring thing when the do get to see each other he flares a little then swims away while "Quark" swims up and down trying his damnedest to get to "Dalek" . "Quark" seems to be 2x the size as "Dalek" so either it a breed that is larger and Dalek is intimadated or hes lover and not a fighter.

Dont miss understand i dont fight my fish. I just like to watch them freak out alittle and they seem to like it too cause afterward they build bubble nests like nobodys bussiness. :D

Anyone had there bettas act like this???

He's just timid, he probably has issues ,perhaps bullied by an older sibling back in the day  Seriously though :)

I have a couple of scaredy cats, nothing to worry about :D

Since the one that dosen't like to flare is quite a deal smaller then the one that does I would just say that Dalek dosen't flare much so as not to get the much larger fellow all hot and bothered. How does Dalek know that the protective glass will never go away??? :)

ALASKA

It would be like teasing a bully.....

i have 2 betta's in a dual betta thing, and they act the same as you said. sept i've had them for 6 months now. one of them, even though they've been together for so long now, still flares like his life depends on it, at the other. while the other one flares for a second, then just watches as if he's amused by the other. and they're both the same size, and i got them both at the same place on the same day, they eat the same amount of the same food, and have same amount of space. the only difference is the color and the attitudes.

niether of them are sick or anything, so maybe flaring just isn't his "thang". lol. i mean, they do tend to have their own individual personality.

Thanks for all the responses i figured but i just wanted to make sure it wasnt a parasitic thing like someone suggested.

Yall have been wonderful thanks for the input.
