Yesterday I moved my betta to his brand new tank... and I can say he seemed very happy! swimming around and being nice and active swimming around..

I've noticed he likes to sleep in this spot (well I think his sleeping)

But today I also came home to find him sort of half lying on his side under a plant or in the plant (hard to describe)

I was worried for a minute that he was unwell and dying :/ but then he came out and swam around as usual and seemed fine..

his now hidding under another plant and being very quiet..
is it normal for them to do this??

Some fish do this. I sometimes spot my tandanus laying down and resting. I think it's normal for bettas too. There was a thread on here about a betta who had evolved to walking on his fins.

I guess as long as his still also swimming and being active I don't have to worry :) now walking on fins that's something I've never seen :p

My betta definitely does that too.  When I arrive home, especially if I arrive after dusk, I find him on the gravel or on the decor resting.  When I come back and sit by the tank, he becomes active again.  Some of the positions he decides to rest in are... scary.  But then once he sees me, everything is back to normal.

that's a relief! both my betta and my snail keep scaring me today! the snail keeps floating for some reason and my betta keeps hiding under things playing dead -.-

What temperature is your tank?  How big is the tank, do you have a filter, and how often do you do water changes?

In general, the behavior you are describing is pretty normal but it is important to make sure there is nothing else going on.  :D

What kind of snail do you have in your tank?  I used to have ramshorns and they had a hard time staying attached to my the walls because I had a moderate current in there.  In case your current is too high, try to tone it down since bettas appreciate slow moving water.

I very rarely see my Betta anymore as he has grown lazy in his attitude. He spends the day under a ornament, or a mossball - just like yours is doing.

Some bettas actually love strong filter flow - always depends on the fish! :)

I have owned probably over 20 bettas sometimes up to 5 at once. It depends on the fish . The betta I have right now lays on the bottom all of the time. If you notice your fish does this be careful of what decor you put in there it could be harmful to him. other than that seems pretty normal.
