Noooooo! Is This Duckweed?

Hi all, I was doing a partial water change and general maintainence of the tank and i came accross this "lovely" ehum... painfully annoying weed. Do you reckon it is duckweed? I do have frogbit in my tank i believe, but this just does not look like it and i wanted that in my tank What do you think.

Yes it is Duckweed Neo I know because it took over my tank but my filter crashed and sent my tank brown

I know how. Theres only one way. I bought a serious amount of java moss off e-bay because it was like £3 for 3 golfball sized clumps. Ah well, i clean out the dead or floating plant matter every 3 days and i can just remove that too, so its not too bad. Moral of the story. Dont be a cheapskate! Buy off smithRc instead

You can just keep removing the Duckweed,
I had a SERIOUS infestation of my pond outside,
sadly one piece becomes two , and two become four , hehe

is it really that bad?? i recently bought a few tetras from a local pet store and there were about 10-15 of those little things in the bag that ended up in my tank, at first i was like 'awe how cute little floatie plants' but if they take over your tank i should remove it right? especially if i i have a betta in there?

Remove them Asap unless you like the top of your tank covered,
Mind you if you control it, removing when there is to many, shouldn't be to bad

Its not the end of the world, but the problem with duckweed is this:

It covers ponds blacking out anything under the duckweed so the aquatic plants rooted to the ground, underneeth will die. So much dieing and rotting stuff makes the water poisoned and then fish die and thats about it i think.

I done a huge clean out of my tank and there was none that i could see. I'm glad that i found the one before it became two!

Maybe you don't want a another fish.....but snakeskin gourims eat it,and will consume every last peice.

it isn't hard to remove.... you just skim it off the top. I don't think it is any worse than riccia, and lots of us have that in our tank. just skim the duck weed off and toss it. sure getting it ALL is nearly impossible, but skim it off once a week and you will be fine.

I found this stuff in one of my tanks about 3 months ago, after a few weeks there was no massive outbreak, just an odd stem or two, so thought it was fine, even posted in a post like this saying 'don't worry, mine's fine'. Now 3 months down the line it's spread to my other tank, not entirely sure how, probably hidden in a net, and it now grows v quickly, i skim as much as i can be bothered to each week and it's 'manageable' but still a pain. Get rid of it as soon as you can in my opinion!

okee dokee captain i will be removing all i can today! i want a planted tank (only a few plants so far) so i want them to get their light!
and i cant get a gourami yet bcus i still have my betta in there.
