I've been trying all day to recall what meds I used when one of my old bettas had pop eye ( he was always a sickly boy, poor Duncan :_( ) and now I have.
I used Waterlife (brand)Myxazin. It cleared his popeye very well indeed, and is also very good for treating fin rot as well. Most LFS sell it.
check the packaging for dosing. id suppose youd dose the tank. do a google of the med...prob. have instructions online.
the scales around his eye are just from fluid under/around the eye puching them outward. best of luck with him..keep us updated.
cheers
Add it to the tank. Hopefully it should work. I've found it to be an excellent med and does what it says on the box. It cured Dunc's pop eye and chronic fin rot before I lost him.
Always dose the main tank that everyone is in for the simple reason something like ick and this pop eye works the same way, but something like ick once treated you normally turn temp up so it can't reproduce, but you alway retreat the tank another 4 days after so that all the new eggs for the parasite get destroyed when they hatch. Follow the directions on the bottle. If it doesn't say water change then don't do a water change. In 4 days you will want to do a waterchange and then retreat the tank again.
Well just an update. Lotus is doing just fine . Really active, greedy little pig again. I am currently uploading a video of him for you all to see who we have been talking about. His eye is just as bad though so he does look a little funny but i just love him
oh my! he has got to be one of the BEST looking vts ive ever seen (and they are my favorite). his finange is PERFECT and so long and beautiful! a beautiful fish for a BEAUTIFUL tank!
he seems happy enough. very active which is a good sign indeed. his eye still looks yucko but with treatment hopefully he will make a full speedy recovery. his activity level is very promising.
cheers! and thanks for the vid
Wow he is beautiful and that is a heck of a lot of finnage on him lol.
Eye is still a bit gross but he is very active and looks happy and inquisitive.
Will the eye return to normal once he's better? Might be a daft question but only pop eye i've dealt with was on my otos and they didn't make it so i don't know
