Good luck! You will probably want to do daily water changes at this stage since the nitrites are high. And, as I said before, don't buy any more fish at the moment.

About the daughter feeding, I find it easiest to measure out the fish's servings myself and let the children put them in the tank. My platys eat 2-3 flakes a day, spread out over 2 meals, but during cycling you may well want to feed less than this. They also like boiled peas (deshelled), about half a pea per fish or less.

How many do these need to be in groups of??

Just wondering, as my LFS has some, and they look cute..

I have 6, 3 gold and 3 Blue. I was told by the LFS that they can be in groups or on their own. I did read though that more than 1 female to male as they can harrass alot - I think that maybe going on in my tank at the moment..

What, daughters? They can be kept singly (one is quite enough IME!).

Or did you mean platies? they are quite sociable, so lots of different sized groups will work as long as you keep a gender ratio of 1 male to 2-3 females, OR an all female pair/group OR (less peaceful) a slightly larger male group.

If you were referring to the khuulies mentioned in another post, they're like corys; like to be in groups of 4-5 or more.
