Hey guys! My name is Lynzie, im 25 and I’m a realtor! I am super fascinated by fish!

I have 2 tanks. One 36 gallon tank with 2 blood-red parrot cichlids, 2 angelfish, 1 albino bichir and a pleco. The other tank is just a 10 gallon with a bette and 2 Cory catfish.

what brought me to this forum was a question regarding my angelfish who was just attacked by my bichir... his whole dorsal fin is gone!! I’ll attach photos. I posted about this in another thread.. but I’m wondering if my fish is in pain? Will it get infected? What do I need to do? And WILL IT GROW BACK?!

Hi and welcome to the forum

Hi! Welcome! I've always wondered what it is like to be a realtor, I'm always interested in looking at how other people set up their homes! I bet you also get to see some cool aquariums every now and then!

Sorry to hear your angel is not doing well, hopefully you will be able to get good advice on the other thread for it. You will probably get told that your tank is too small for the fish you have, which is true, but your parrots still look pretty small so it may not be super-urgent to upgrade, though you may need to adjust some of the fish inside the tank to deal w the aggression stuff. I'll leave that part up to more knowledgeable folks.

However, I am planning on setting up a tank around blood parrots myself over the course of the next several months, so definitely a fan of those! As you upgrade to a larger tank, here are some thoughts: 1) larger tanks are easier to maintain than smaller tanks, because water parameters don't shift as quickly 2) my personal thought is to never buy a large tank setup new. You will spend over $1000, and it's painful to watch that money go bye-bye. Check craigslist and fb marketplace for used large setups or parts, you would be surprised at what you find! I recently bought a 125 gallon tank and stand with an included canister filter and some decor for $200. As you know from your own line of work - just gotta be at the right place at the right time :)

Anyway, best of luck and I am looking forward to following along on your fish journey!!!
