Hi , i just inherited an old whisper 700 air pump and it works fine , but i have placed two non return vales on the plastic pipe work and the vales have reduced the air flow to the air stones any ideas on how to over come this

i would remove 1 and see how it copes with just 1 valve, there is no need to have 2 valves on 1 line :good: also make sure they are the right way round.....

The pump has two outlets on it , and i dont want to get any back syphoning
oh ok....thats fine then i thought you had 2 valves on 1 line  are the valves the right way round as air should only flow 1 way through them?

yes the the non return valves are the correct way and are of a good quality , but are slowing down the air flow to the air stones , work fine when the vales are removed ,

then maybe if the pump isnt new its worn and with the slight resistance from the valves its not 100%. if its a major reduction and not really doing its job of blowing bubbles then remove the return valves and place above the tank.

Do air flow non return valve have a rating, most just have a simple flap so maybe there's not enough air pressure to fully push the flap back?
