I've got a 6 x 2 x 2 tank with the back corner cordoned off as a weir down to the sump filter in the cabinet underneath via 2" flexi-hose.

When i first got this tank a month or so back, i was advised to insert a pipe up to the level of the weir to stop the sound of water rushing down the weir wall down to the hole at the bottom.

I did this and still got a loud gurgling sound :(

So, someone then suggested putting a 'T' piece on the top of the pipe so that some air could get in.

IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE :-( :-( :-( :hyper:

CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE

I need to get these noise levels down and my neighbours think they live near Niagara Falls!

Neil.

Well, there could be dozens of reasons for your issue. However it is most likely due to your standpipe. I would suggest looking into a durso type standpipe. you can make your own very easilly. you can also modify the design once you understand the concept.

Durso Standpipes

it is possible, however you run the risk of impeding your flow. If that occurs you will overflow your tank from your sump.
