Hi I set up an Oase Biostyle 75 HOB filter on Monday and it is sooooo noisy! Really loud buzz coming from it, even with the cabinet doors open my externals on other tanks are not that loud. Any advice on how to fix it? Or are they just buzzy?

most of the time, they are either just not lined up properly, or have some grit in them... I'd recommend pulling it apart, & cleaning out the magnetic well the impeller base sets in ( it's magnetic, so any grit with iron content won't just come out ) if everything looks good, it may have a manufacturing burr, or deformity...

when setting up my newest Aquaclear... the base must be fitted with an o-ring into the filter housing, when I started it, from new, it was also noisy... I was able to wiggle the base slightly, which must have helped it line up better, as it quieted up right after...

Thanks when you say lining up do you mean the filter with the tank or the bits on the inside?

the filter and the tank fit rarely make a difference on the noise... but if pressure is getting put on the suction tube ( pushing against something on the tank, or not seated properly in the filter ) that can create more noise... I guess I was referring to the "bits" inside, that pump the water... the impeller spins, usually really fast, so anything that rubs or inhibits it spinning will make it more noisy

Ive got the biostyle 115 and thats not buzzy tbf

I'll take it apart later on to see if theres anything I can do the whole thing is vibrating quite a bit and thats whats making the noise...

@Colin_T great point on the lid I lifted that off and its making a bit of noise but not totally solving it.

@AquaBarb thats interesting! I'm sat maybe 8 foot from it and its loud enough to be distracting... Urgh wish I'd pushed a bit further and got the Filtosmart!!
