Everytime my heater comes on it makes a tapping noise its so annoying it wakes me up at night. Does anyone know whats wrong with it? Its working fine apart from that.

The tanks been going three months and its only now the heater has started being noisy. Its doing it now! soooooooooooooooooo annoying :grr: Its a 63 litre tank and it came with a fluval two filter and standard lamp. It says on it: thermal compact 230-240 v ~50hz 100w

Hmmmmm good point, although its hard to pin-point where the noise is coming from. I just assumed it was the heater because when the light comes on the noise starts. I'll pay attention next time.

I don't think any brand of heater should make noise ??

There is nothing in it to make noise ( no mechanical moving parts )

My guesses would have to be.

the LED, cheap ones may buzz or click as the turn off or on

the coils expanding as the heater heats up could run on the inside of the heater

or the heater itself tapping the or rubbing on the glass..

If it continues with no tempature problems then the choice is your to keep it or change it for a better brand name..

I hope that helps...

Well now that I have taken it out to check what make it was, there is longer any noise. So thanks guys for your quick replies!!!!! :*

i have a juwel heater that knocks on the glass sometimes as i heats up it causes a little water movement, just enough to make it move slightly. i often have to move it slightly and then the knocking stops.
I get exactly the same with my Juwel. I took the first one back thinking something was wrong with it, but this one does exactly the same. I have to move it slightly to stop it, but that only stops it for a little while. Very annoying. Juwel told me they had never heard of it happening!
