Noisey Eheim 2213

Only yesterday, my eheim filter (2213 external) suddenly became very noisey. Now, with my experience with powerheads, they become noisey and rattely (just like my filter currently) when they are clogged with dirt. Is this the case? If yes, how do I go about cleaning?

Still got flow from the outlet ? if not, or its low - the media will need cleaning, maybe a fine filter pad replacing.... ALL should be rinsed in old tank water.
