Hello,

I've a school of 12 Penguin Tetras - well I say school but they only seem to school when the aquarium lights are out!!

I've a lot of tall plants and they just seem to hide in them during the day, I can rarely see more than one or two. However pretty much the second that I turn the lights out the little guys are best of pals and hanging out straight away!!

I recently added some floating plants thinking that perhaps the lights were too strong, (don't think that they are as they're just the standard ones that came with the hood), but now they just hide in them as well

Anyone have any ideas what's going on?

Schooling up is a response to threat. Most "schooling" fish do not school when there is no need, they do their own thing.

Ahh excellent that makes sense.... was worried that something wasn't right in there, thanks :good:
