I feel really bad today, because one of my blue neon tetra's with fin rot tail has completely dropped of! I gave the whole tank a 5 day course of myxazin but they did not recover. I gave them some tonic salt also.
Will my fishes tail grow back?

I did a water test, to see if anything is wrong in that area...

Nitrate - 25
Nitrite - 0
PH - 8.4
Carbonate Hardness - 3 d
General hardness - >14d

Are these okay?

And just another worrie, my barb and a neon tetra both have a sort of stringy thing coming out of them, Barbs is white and tetra's is orange
What are these?

Thanks.
I feel like a really bad fish keeper :-(

Ammonia reading?

You need to keep up the water changes and keep the water very, very clean.

The stringy thing you can eat.
One of my fish lost some of his tail it grew back thou..

I'm sure u p.h is to high wait till the experts come. Change some wate. And don't feel bad just eat the string. I lost my first 3 lots of fish.

Are you serious about the string?! :X WHat is it actually?
Thankyou for your help so far.
Could you please inform me, how much amonia tests cost and can you get them from any fish store? REccomended brand? Thankyou

Are u using strip tests? You should get a liquid drop test kit if you are, they are far more reliable. The api master test kit is a good affordable all rounder. If you're using strip tests it may not be picking up traces of nitrite, for example.

Then you're really not getting accurate results. The problems you're having are a result of poor water quality and a liquid test will give you clearer results to act on.

In the mean time continue with frequent water changes and keep the substrate/tank clean.
