i want to do a new aquascape with just bogwood and rocks. which fish dont need or like plant cover, because i want the fish to be happy.

Loaches can do withouth plants, and plecs really. They prefer caves and nooks and crannys. Plecs like bogwood, in fact I think they need it for digestion or something.

Problem is nothing will remove your Nitrates for you, so may mean more water changes, also plants help 02/c02 in the tank.

Most vegetarian fish like plants, gouramis, silver dollars, mollys, plattys all like plants, livebearers like plant cover for giving birth.

I know why you would want it, but I personally wouldnt have a tank without some plants, as most fish do like them, even if they dont 'need' them. They give good cover too.

Could you use some planted bog wood ?

iam more interested in those which dont need plant cover, because i will have java moss to remove nitrates. i dont plan to have any caves as such, so i need a fish that doesent hide and doesent need plant cover.

what about a mbuna chiclid like yellow lab they live in rocks in fact mbuna means rock fish! they do need some vege based food like spirilina flakes, cucumber or peeled peas.

many fishes are okay without plants actually. barbs, tetras etc. they do fine with or without plants.
