My 180 litre community tank has been without heat or filtration for approx 15 hrs.

The temp is still at around 21 degrees, and the water is slightly clouded but has started to clear now.

Would it be best to do a water change? I did one late last night before the power outage.

Fish are Neons, guppies, endlers, platys, corys and khulli loaches.

Everyone seems to be none the worse for their ordeal.

Cheers in advance.

Someone will be along soon to help but I am sure the bacteria will have now died in the filter  I would think a big water change needs to be done, and test the water

Im fairly sure the bacteria won't have died as its an internal filter and temp did not drop below 21.

I've done a 50% change now anyway, temp back up to normal, everyone seems ok.

I would keep testing the water, have a look here at filteration (I am just helping)

Keep up the water changes with warm water
Consider using a "hot water bottle"in the tank -clean plastic bottle filled with boiling water, changed every few hours as it cools
Cover tank with duvet, blanket, sleeping bag to retain heat. Line tank sides with bubblewrap or polystyrene stuck on with tape (I've done this to all my tanks to save energy and keep fish warm in this freezing weather)

It should be fine. It takes a longer than that for bacteria to start dying in major amounts. It probably fared better with the internal filter. I would still do a waterchange if you can. I've heard of tanks surviving for 5 days without electricity. Thats probably a planted tank though.

Thing that sucks with my house is that no electricity for me means no water either because our well needs power to pump the water. We only have about 20gals to use before the pressure gets too low. After a few hours it gets frustrating, flipping light switches and turning on faucets out of habit and repeatedly nothing happening .
