Hi,

Here's my planted tank that does not require any additional CO2 injection. I found that you had to reduce the number of fish in your tank if you use CO2. Also I am pretty sure that Apisto's dont like additional CO2 to be added and start to gasp, but the other types of fish seem okay. Has anybody else had the same problem ? I have looked for information on this problem but found nothing as yet.

I ended up ditching my Co2 unit and just use fertilisers...what do you all reckon?

Cheers

Apisto.

Nice tank. If your lighting is low enough (say, below 1.5 wpg), you probably can do well without CO2.

I've never heard anything about limiting your fish because of CO2 injection (limiting in addition to 'normal' limits, that is). But, I know pretty much zip about discus fish.

Assuming, of course, that you regulate your CO2, and keep it below (number varies, according to who you ask -- usually 25 ppm).

Holy crap that is the prettiest planted tank I have ever seen. It makes my plants look fake and sick...................................................

good job! i don't use CO2 either, just fertilzer, with pretty good results. Not as good as those though, I'd like to know what kind of plant steroids you are using! :flex:

That is a gorgeous tank. Well done on that one.

I inject co2 into both of my Apisto tanks, and there are no problems at all. That said though, I do keep these tanks very sparsely populated, but I know of plenty of Apisto keepers who inject co2.

Cheers.

Ian.

Injecting CO2 should nt effect fish unless it gets to a high concentration. Dissolved CO2 does not replace O2. That said, I am a notorious understocker anyway, I believe a tank stocked to the 1"/25mm per gallon guideline looks more like fish soup then a slice of nature.

Tank looks good.
