No clue at all

Thats a great idea in theory Teelie, but I go through 50-75 gallons of water a week and it wouldn't be cost effective to buy all my water that way.

Yeah I gotcha Jen ;)

Ah, that would be a lot of water. I use maybe 5 a week, 20 if it's a water change but I try to stagger those as 20 is a pain let alone 50-60.

I so Glad it has worked out, Wasn't very sure what to say.

Hmmmm Thats what must have happened to Mr Valentine - My 1st Red Betta that I got the wife on Valentines Day. Will have to Remember this in the Future.

I went to Fort Collins today ang got myself a giant bottle of amquel and some net dip  Also got some brine shrimp eggs and some mysis, but that's not applicable ;)

So here's my new system. Instead of having basters for each row, I set up a net dip bucket and I'll switch basters out with each fish. I've also mixed 12 gallons of 50/50 tap:r/o and treated them with amquel. I'm bastering anything I can see and then doing 50% with the prepared water. Should work out well, and will be safe for the fish

wow, sounds like a plan. That's so much extra work. Get a huge ,new, trash can and keep it in the fish room with your RO mix, maybe that will cut back on you having to lug so much water around. I dunno how big those things are usually, like 60 gallons...ish?

Cool! Glad you figured it out....but yes, you definetly need to break down the cloramine too....the difference with chloramine and chlorine and the reason some water companies are using it (mine started about a year ago), is it doesn't break down on it's own as quickly or easily as chlorine...with chlorine, you can get rid of with with aerating the water very well for a while (not sure how long but I know it's not longer than a day or 2), but with Chloramines, you could have very heavy aeration for weeks and still not get rid of it, it has to be neutrilized with chemicals.

Keep us updated, I'm anxious to hear how your fish do with this new way of treating your water.

Linda

Edited to take out the extra M I always type in chloramine, Lol

wow sorrel, im gld u'v got that under controlle now, my thights were on the ammonia but i'd of never thoght your conditioner would have done that. -_- good luck, i hope nothing like this happens again to anyone
